Proven Redundancy Avoids Interruptions
A winning team is only as good as its defense. Like a good defensive lineman, Telx has your back – and the best redundant backup for your collocated network. Our colocation facilities provide the structural integrity and redundant power and cooling infrastructure required for a secure, reliable and effective networking and computing environment. Since 2003, we have successfully provided 100% uptime on our overall power and cooling systems. That’s a win-win situation for Telx and our customers.
A 480V feed of power is distributed throughout a Telx colocation center through a robust infrastructure consisting of 99 percent gel cell batteries capable of providing full-load power in case of a power failure. If the power fails, our redundancy control systems will switch to generator power within 20 seconds. The generator system also has an override that allows manual activation of the generators.
The generator system can provide a full load of power for at least 48 hours. Telx maintains a fuel reserve for an additional 24-36 hours, depending on the type of facility. We also maintain contracts with fuel suppliers to refill the tanks within a 4-hour window.
Practice makes perfect
Telx facilities in Dallas, Chicago, and New York participate regularly participate in tests with the local power companies to prove that they can remove their load from the power grid, if required – usually during the summer months when the grid is stressed with heavy power use. These tests help Telx technicians ensure that they’re prepared at a moment’s notice to quickly and safely handle the deployment of the redundant systems whenever the flow of power is interrupted.
